Nobody Checked If Your C-Section Scar Healed Right
Jul 22, 2026A mom in one of our calls told me her C-section scar still pulls when she reaches overhead, three years later. She'd never mentioned it to anyone. She figured that's just how it is now.
It's not just how it is. Nobody ever actually checked.
What a C-section actually cuts through
A C-section isn't one incision. Surgeons cut through skin, fat, fascia, abdominal muscle, and the uterus, then close each layer separately. That's major abdominal surgery, even though it gets talked about like a quick procedure.
Healed on the outside doesn't mean healed underneath
The skin closes in a couple weeks. What's happening underneath, between those layers, takes much longer and doesn't always resolve on its own. Scar tissue can form adhesions, sticking layers together that are supposed to glide independently. That's often where the numbness, tightness, or pulling comes from, not just "a normal scar thing."
Nobody checks this at your six-week visit
That appointment is mostly a visual check and a green light to resume normal activity. It's not a functional assessment of whether your scar tissue actually moves the way it should. Most moms leave that visit "cleared" without anyone ever touching or moving the scar area functionally.
This isn't just cosmetic
A scar that's stuck can quietly limit how well your deep core engages, since the tissue layers it's supposed to work with aren't moving freely. Some moms carry this for years without ever connecting it back to the scar.
What actually helps
Once you're cleared, gentle scar massage and desensitization can help release some of that stuck tissue. Breathing work reconnects you to your deep core, and mobility work around the scar itself, not just general ab exercises, matters more than people realize. If it's been years and you still feel numbness, pulling, or discomfort, that's not something you have to just live with.
Your scar is proof of something incredible. It doesn't have to be something you just tolerate for the rest of your life.
If you want a guided way to actually reconnect with your body after a C-section, that's exactly what the C-Section Recovery System was built for.
